🎤 Sing, Compete & Have Fun with Choir Music Olympics! 🏅🌟
I’m always looking for fun, engaging activities to do with my middle school and high school choirs after our final concert. Several years ago, I combined forces with the band director and put together 5 days of music events and competitions for our choir and band students. And it was a HUGE success! It was exactly what we needed to keep the students engaged and excited about class without worrying about that “end of the year” behavior from the students.
An unintended by-product of doing Choir/Music Olympics was that students stayed engaged, boosted their team spirit and built community within the ensembles…even at the end of the school year! Honestly, we could have done this longer than 5-days but we ran out of time!
After several years of revisions and new additional ideas, I have the perfect product to share with you. Music Olympics is packed with fun, flexible, and creative music games designed especially for middle school and high school music ensembles. Whether you’re teaching choir, band, orchestra, or general music, Music Olympics gives you everything you need to turn your classroom into a stage of friendly competition, laughter, and fun memories.

🎓 A detailed Teacher’s Guide with easy-to-follow instructions
🎲 A wide variety of team and individual music games
🎵 A sample 5-day lesson plan schedule of events
🏅 3 styles of printable Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals (Choose from color, gray scale and B/W)

How It Works:
Students work in groups of 5–8 and create their own team name, mascot, and flag (yes—it’s as fun as it sounds!). You'll love watching students get creative and take pride in their team identity.
Events are judged using a simple point system:
🥇 Gold = 3 pts | 🥈 Silver = 2 pts | 🥉 Bronze = 1 pt
Choose from a long list of Individual and Team Events. Pick and choose what works for your classroom based on students' needs and personalities. You determine how long you want to do Music Olympics. For me, this was the perfect end of the year activity. I recommend 5 days but could also be used as a “Fun Friday” activity.
Wrap up your Music Olympics with a “Closing Ceremony” complete with medal/certificate presentations and even the Olympic theme song playing in the background. Add some candy or dollar-store medals for extra excitement!
What Teachers Are Saying:
🎶 “My students begged to do this again the next week.”
🎶 “Perfect for that weird week after concerts when everyone’s exhausted!”
