This product is divided into three parts:
1. Choir Officer Descriptions- This is a long list of possible Choir Officer titles and job descriptions for each. Choose officers that work for you and your choirs.
2. Choir Officer Application- Teacher will need to choose officers from the description list and put into the application. Then, distribute applications to interested students. They will turn this back into the teacher.
3. Choir Officer Voting Form- Teacher will need to choose officers from the description list and put into the Voting Form. This document is given to the entire class. Teacher will read returned applications to the class and students will write at least 2 sentences about the person they feel is the best fit for each office. Teacher will then collect voting forms and tally the votes.
I’ve never been a fan of “popularity voting” because it often overlooks the best person for the job. Instead, I have used this “voting” system for several years with much success. Interested students must fill out an application, turn it in by the deadline and articulate why they would be best for the job. Once I have received applications, I spend a class period reading each application to the class. The students anonymously “vote” by writing at least 2 sentences on why that person is best for the job. Since incorporating this system, I’ve found that students are more likely to vote for the best person and not the most popular person.
